Erratic water supply dries up festive mood in Taloja | Bombay News

PANVEL: While the city is engulfed in the Ganeshotsav festivities, the erratic water supply proves to be a drag for the residents of Taloja during festive times. While for some there is no water supply at all, others complain of receiving low water pressure in their homes.

Residents complain that despite several appeals and requests, the situation has not improved for months.

Umesh Keni, 38, a resident of Maitri Vatika society shared, “We sometimes get frustrated, there is no water for three days in a row. We have approached the officials several times, however, we only get empty assurances. The situation has been the same for a few days. Festival or no festival, the authorities don’t matter. We are penalized for having taken up residence here.

Paramount Society resident Mansoor Dadarkar, 60, added: “If there is water, the pressure is so low that it does not reach our reservoirs, and if that happens, it does not not fill. We have to depend on tankers to meet our water needs. Funds that should be used for the maintenance and welfare of society are used for water supply.

Riaz Hamdule, 46, from the Blue Fig Tower lamented that every effort has been made to improve the supply. He said, “We have tried everything, submitted memoranda to CIDCO, PCMC, people’s representatives and even the Custodian Minister. Governments have changed but that has not changed our situation. We continue to aspire to a steady supply.

When contacted, a CIDCO water supply department official said, “As some areas of Taloja are at a higher level, some companies are supplied with low pressure water. CIDCO therefore provides them with water by tanker truck. We are doing everything we can to solve the problem of water supply as soon as possible. It is planned to install an independent booster in the areas concerned. We will also set up a 40,000 liter water reservoir for the area to improve the water supply.
