Steve Chaney, chairman of the board of the Tynan Water Supply Corporation, said Tynan’s water well system is 25 years old. A filter to keep the sand out of the system needs to be replaced, but that will cost thousands of dollars.

“We brought in a sand expert and watched and with the intervention of a, for lack of a better word, ‘filter’ – they call them hydroclones – we think we can remove and save time until for all of this to come to fruition,” Chaney said.

The members of the Water Board had a conference call with one of its financial advisers. Although the plan is to eventually drill a new well, it could cost around $300,000. The council is also working to secure a grant to cover this. In the meantime, it’s going to cost thousands of dollars for a new filtration system.

Officials are also concerned about the possibility of another meter of sand ending up in the city’s water storage tank again, causing the water to shut down until it can be cleaned up. new.
