Water conservation needed next week

Sonora, California – TUD is asking all of its customers to save water from this Sunday October 3 through Sunday October 10.

TUD spokeswoman Lisa Westbrook said this was due to the annual maintenance that needs to be done on the main Tuolumne canal. It is often referred to as the annual “ditch failure”. PG&E’s Tuolumne Main Canal covers 95 percent of TUD’s drinking water supply.

“The water that remains is only what is in our storage tanks, so we are very limited in supply during this time,” says Westbrook, “We ask people to limit all their outdoor watering, not to wash your vehicles and turn off automatic lawn and drip sprinklers.

Additionally, the district is asking customers to fix any water leaks by October 3.
